AGN-Macaulay joined Assemblies of God Nigeria in celebrating General Council Men’s Ministries Day 2026, bringing together the men of the church for a week of fellowship, learning, reflection and renewed commitment to their responsibilities in the home, church and society.
The celebration was held under the theme, “Men and the New Frontiers: Breaking Barriers and Domesticating the 12 Ministries in the Local Church.”
The programme provided an opportunity to celebrate the men while also addressing important issues surrounding Christian manhood, leadership, family responsibility and service in the church.
A Call to Break New Ground
One of the central messages of the celebration was the need for men to move beyond old limitations and step into the new frontiers God has prepared for them.
Speaking on the theme, Deacon Mato Michael emphasized the importance of breaking barriers, particularly the barriers created by mindset, fear and unwillingness to grow.
The message pointed men towards a deeper understanding of strength and leadership. True strength, as expressed during the message, is not simply about authority, position or influence. It is demonstrated through service, protection, provision, teaching, correction, encouragement and love.
Men were also encouraged to develop greater spiritual depth and to become examples not only within the church, but also in their homes, workplaces and communities.
The charge was clear: Christian men must be men of prayer, vision, discipline, courage, compassion and wisdom, willing to take responsibility and serve wherever God has placed them.
A Thought-Provoking Debate: Who Handles More Responsibilities?
Another memorable part of the celebration was a debate centered on a question that continues to generate conversations in many homes:
“Who handles more responsibilities — the man or the woman?”
The debate brought different perspectives to the forefront. Arguments from the men’s side highlighted responsibilities such as providing for the family, protecting the home, making important decisions and carrying the weight of leadership.
The women’s side, on the other hand, brought attention to the many responsibilities women carry in the home and family, including caring for and raising children, supporting their husbands, managing the home and balancing these responsibilities with other personal and professional demands.
The discussion also received contributions from members of the audience, making it more interactive and allowing different experiences and opinions to be shared.
Beyond deciding who carries more responsibility, the discussion provided an opportunity to appreciate the different roles of men and women and the importance of support, partnership and shared responsibility within the family.
Celebrating Our Men
The celebration was also a moment to appreciate the men of AGN-Macaulay for their contributions to the church, their families and the wider community.
Men’s Ministries Day served as more than a celebration. It was a reminder of the responsibility that comes with being a man of faith and the importance of making a positive impact wherever God has placed us.
As the church continues to move forward, the call remains for men to rise to their responsibilities, strengthen their families, serve faithfully in the church and become godly examples to the next generation.
The celebration ended with a renewed sense of purpose and a reminder that breaking barriers begins with a willingness to grow, take responsibility and trust God for the strength to move forward.
